Structure of Intensive course

• Up to 12 2 hour sessions over 12 days or more if possible ( or we can work according to group itinerary)
• 3 stages of training please see below.
• Zero prior knowledge assumed
• Opportunity to ask questions will be given throughout the sessions
• Students are requested to have an open mind and “empty their cup” in order to fully benefit from the sessions.

Stage 1 (6 days)

Wing Chun Facts
1. A straight line is the shortest distance between 2 points
2. By using the body to create specific machines such as inclined planes, wheels, axes, and levers, a smaller force can redirect or dissipate a stronger force.
3. The closer you strike to the rotational axis of a body, the more force that body must absorb.
Brief introduction to the art and history.
The three hand forms
The training aids (wooden dummy, wall bag)
The weapon forms (The Long Pole and Butterfly Knives)

Basic principles of the first form (Sil Lim Tao- Little idea)
• Centre Line theory introduced
• Stance and structure introduced
• Opening and closing of limbs
• Correct breathing and relaxation
• Sil Lim Tao form demonstrated and taught
• 3 sections of the form explained
• Application of the 3 sections
• Partner drills to practice form and footwork etc.

The best form of self defense is to become invisible…If you can’t do that learn Wing Chun!

Stage Two (3 days)

The second form (Chum Kiu – The bridging hand)
• 3 sections of Chum Kiu explained
• Chum Kiu form demonstrated and taught
• Application of movements
• Footwork and kicking
• Turning with structure
• Tan Sau, Lap Sau etc. drills
• Dan Chi Sau ( single arm sensitivity drill)
• Understanding energy direction and application

Stage Three (3 days)

• Chi Sau application ( 2 handed sensitivity drill)
